Pepper Spray

Why should I buy Pepper Spray

The most commonly used type of non-lethal self defense that is used by women is pepper spray. There are a number of different reasons why pepper spray is so incredibly popular. Some of the main reasons are: ease of use, effectiveness, legality, portability and affordability. Pepper spray is quite inexpensive. There are many models that cost less than ten dollars. So where to buy is not a difficult question; just google pepper spray "where to buy" and you will find many well qualified online stores to buy from and some even in your local area.

A self defense product that potentially can save your life can cost less than the price of most takeout meals. How much a defense spray costs relates directly to the extra features that the unit might have in addition to the strength and amount of oleoresin capsicum it contains or "OC".  That's what OC stands for!  The expensive models have blinged out styles that are designed for people who love fashion. However, even pepper spray that is bedazzled cost less than a movie date. Other models might have secondary features like velcro handholds making it easier to carry for joggers or the pepper spray being encased inside of a keychain. Even larger, expensive models made for home protection purposes won't break most budgets.

The top selling pepper sprays are ones that attach to a keychain. Women are the most vulnerable to be attacked when going into their houses, getting into or out of their cars, or when they are in parking lots. You should be holding onto your keys during all of these times. That is why keychain self defense models are so popular - due to the fact that they are readily available at the times that you need them the most. There are also models that may be carried at times where it is important to be discrete. Some of them are disguised as pens and lipsticks. Either of the models can be carried easily in a purse or pocket.

Pepper spray, unlike stun guns, is legal in all of the 50 U.S. states. However, there are some states that do have restrictions like where they can be purchased or the types that may be carried. Some cities might have additional regulations as well, so ask your local authorities prior to carrying a defense spray within your local area.

The major reason why pepper spray is highly effective is due to it being an inflammatory agent. The membranes swell and the eyes swell shut involuntarily and the person experiences temporary blindness as well. Breathing is difficult and the throat constricts. It effectively eliminates everything but life sustaining breathing. The body starts to spasm and usually it is accompanied by a runny nose and coughing fits. The skin starts feeling like it is on fire. Usually, panic sets in, which intensifies the physical effects. These effects may last from 10 up to 45 minutes, and the diminished effects can last for several hours.

You don't need to have any special training to use pepper spray. Just point and spray. However, you should always practice using a water based, inert pepper spray first. This creates muscle memory that can help you use it when you get into a crisis situation.
