Pepper Shot Pepper Sprays

What does OC Spray stand for

No one likes to feel as if they're in danger. Everyone wants to feel safe and secure. From the very beginning, mankind has developed tools to help keep themselves safe. Whenever the word "weapon" comes up, people tend to immediately think of lethal weapons. Weapons such as guns or knives, for example. To be fair, there are a huge number of guns in the United States. There are over 300 million handguns alone! Most people balk at the idea of killing someone over a purse snatching or another crime of opportunity. Humans don't tend to enjoy taking the lives of other humans. This is why there's been such a boom in the personal defense tools market! Perhaps the most popular self-defense product is pepper spray. You'll often see pepper spray referred to as OC spray or even defensive spray. The reason it's called OC spray is due to oleoresin capsicum, the main ingredient in pepper spray. It's the chemical that makes peppers spicy. Have you ever had hot sauce or pepper on your fingers and then rubbed your eyes? Imagine that, only exponentially worse. How much worse? Try 50K to 3,000,000 points on the Scoville scale! While most OC sprays contain 10% capsicum, there are some brands that contain as much as 18%. You can find these pepper sprays all over the country, both in civilian hands and the hands of law enforcement. Pepper Shot pepper spray is a 10% spray with a Scoville rating of 2,000,000 and comes in a variety of sizes. Another popular self-defense tool is the stun gun, or taser. Most people have an idea of what a taser is. It's a small device that delivers a quick jolt of incredibly high-voltage electricity. While many companies claim the taser doesn't rely on pain, the simple fact is that it does hurt. It's not designed to cause pain, however. It's designed to cause the muscles to constrict quickly. However, if you've ever quickly tightened all the muscles in your body at the same time you'll notice that it doesn't feel pleasant. That said, the stun gun is designed to drain energy from the human muscular system. The electricity burns through blood sugar, which causes difficulty in muscle control. That causes the victim to lose balance. Lastly, there are always panic alarms. These aren't weapons at all. They're simply alarms. Even so, that's often all a person really needs. If someone attacks you, you can simply sound the alarm and let people around you know what's happening. There are electronic alarms as well as things such as whistles and bells. There are a number of other self-defense tools out there on the market. If you're curious, you should do some research and find what works for you. After all, you deserve to feel safe!
